Learning pathway

Rules and movement, basic notation, checkmate patterns and opening principles.

Tactical themes, opening principles, endgame fundamentals and game-review habits. Assessment required.

Deeper calculation, strategic planning, game analysis and tournament preparation. Assessment required.

Intermediate and Advanced students complete a skill assessment before placement so the class can be matched more closely to current chess ability.
